Radiation Emission Containment Capabilities of Various Materials Using 4 Different Isotopes
Northview Engineering will use Cobalt-60, Strontium-90, Cadmium-109, and Polonium-210 to discover ways to block their radiationNorthview Engineering will test our hypothesis by experimenting with radio active samples of the four materials stated above. We can execute this experiment on the ground or we can launch the materials in the rocket, it will depend on if NASA will allow us to launch the materials. The purpose of this experiment is to test lightweight shielding material that will effectively block or at least reduce the radiation exposure to the interior of the rocket. This is important to NASA because astronauts need to be shielded by radiation while in space.

Northview's History
Sylvania Northview's engineering program has competed in this competion 3 times in its history, two out of the three times we were accepted. All of their experiments were very sophisticated as one year they tested how real blood was affected by G-Force. All of this was possible because of the support of our expierenced mentor, Ryan Reed, the comunity and local sponsors.
